About Micah Community Movement

Mission

Micah Community Movement exists to support those on the margins, particularly the unhoused and elderly. Motivated by God’s love, we provide tangible resources and friendship to our neighbors. And we welcome and empower the next generations to serve in this mission.

Vision

We envision a stronger and more hopeful OKC community where all people are valued, supported, and participating.

Guiding Posture

Our guiding posture is Micah 6:8, “Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.”

Our History

In November 2022, Rev Doug Forsberg, five students, and eight faculty from Southern Nazarene University formed an urban student ministry and 501c3 named Micah Community Movement. An SNU Student Outreach team and The Gathering were launched, and dozens of students have participated.

In September 2024, ‘Prof Doug’ retired as ‘Founding President,’ and MCM moved from SNU as it’s home base to focus on the needs in northwest Oklahoma City. In March 2025, Micah launched the NW OKC Faith Alliance to bring faith communities together to collaborate in reaching our unhoused neighbors. In June 2025 the Micah Community Center opened it’s doors as a drop-in day center for the unhoused in NW OKC.
