The Unhoused
The number of people experiencing homelessness has been steadily growing over the past 40 years. Serving this community requires understanding
who they are, what they need, and the challenges they face.
MCM’s outreach to the unhoused currently has three components:
1- Outreach to the unhoused neighbors immediately near OKC First church: these folks are part of us. We have developed personal relationships with this small group and assist them with essential outdoor survival needs.
2- We opened the Micah Community Center! to serve the larger unhoused community in NW OKC.
3- We partner with local universities to bring college students into this work and develop these future leaders.
MCM does more than provide food and essential items; our volunteers treat each person they encounter with respect, dignity and friendship. Building relationships with people, and their pets, goes a long way.
